The Rittenhouse Spartacus trading card sets are a good example of what can be done with a show that has a somewhat limited but dedicated audience. Opting for a premium route, all of the company's main Spartacus releases have focused largely on limited print runs and autographs. And with each "season" bringing a new mini-series, the end result is a fairly long list of different Spartacus autographs.

Airing on Starz, the different Spartacus shows have all been filled with lots of style that's clearly inspired by 300. Definitely not for kids, the blood flows freely. One could also say that the different characters frequently enjoy each other's company in the most intimate of ways. But behind all that is a show filled with epic storylines and strong characters where good and evil aren't always clear.
2011 Rittenhouse Spartacus Blood and Sand
Rittenhouse's first set for the show, 2011 Rittenhouse Spartacus Blood and Sand, includes 13 autograph cards from 11 different signers. The checklist is led by the late Andy Whitfield, Lucy Lawless (best known as Xena) and John Hannah. Autographs come two per pack. The entire production run was limited to 200 boxes of 15 packs. While Rittenhouse did not release specific production numbers for individual cards, it is widely believed that Whitfield and Lawless are among the toughest in the set to pull.
One card to watch from this set is Jai Courtney, who costarred alongside Bruce Willis in It's a Good Day to Die Hard. While the film was a disappointment at the box office, it's evidence that Hollywood is courting Courtney for bigger things. The actor has a handful of other high-profile films in the works.
2012 Rittenhouse Spartacus Premium Pack
2012 Rittenhouse Spartacus Premium Pack, the show's second trading card set, once again saw autographs land two per pack. Standouts include Lawless and Jaime Murray, who played a key role in the second season of Dexter. Overall, prices are a little softer for this set, but there's still some decent potential one or two of the actors could emerge on bigger projects. The checklist has 20 different signers.
2013 Rittenhouse Spartacus Vengeance
2013 Rittenhouse Spartacus Vengeance ups the ante with the addition of a relic card. But every pack still boasts a pair of autographs. The set has 19 different autograph cards including five variations. Liam McIntyre, who took over the titular role following Whitfield's passing, is among the signers. The show's creator, Steven S. DeKnight, is an incentive for those ordering four premium pack boxes.
The 2013 expansion adds two exclusive cards, as well, including Liam McIntyre as Spartacus and Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Naevia.
