Nathan Fillion autographs are, indeed, part of the plot for 2013 Cryptozoic Castle Seasons 1 and 2. Until now, the card maker has been tight-lipped about whether the show's lead star would be signing for the upcoming set of trading cards. Fillion plays the show's title character, Richard Castle, a mystery writer who works with New York detectives.
This isn't the first time that Nathan Fillion autographs have been included in a set of trading cards. Nor is it the second or even third, for that matter. Fillion has previously signed for 2003 Inkworks Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 7, 2005 Inkworks Serenity and 2006 Inkworks Firefly. All three have been moved briskly since they were originally released. While not particularly rare, supply has largely dried up. Today, prices generally range from $50 to $75.
Besides announcing the Nathan Fillion autograph, Cryptozoic also confirmed a Castle Seasons 1 and 2 redemption -- an over-sized costume card featuring eight of the show's main cast. The card is limited to 25 copies.
Finally, 2013 Cryptozoic Castle Seasons 1 and 2 now has a firm release date: March 5, 2013.
