Random boxes of 2012 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball had giant N43 cabinet redemption cards that promised the holder an "unusual artifact from the past." Topps has confirmed the list of artifacts and they certainly do live up to their billing.
2012 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball N43 Artifacts Checklist
- N43AB1 – Carcharodon Megalodon Tooth (10-million-years old)
- N43AB2 – Bronze Coin (Roman Empire)
- N43AB3 – Cleoniceras Species Fossil (120-million-years old)
- N43AB4 – Native American Stone Point (500- to 9,000-years old)
- N43AB5 – Neolithic Stone Point (3,000- to 8,000-years old)
For those who are curious, the Carcharodon Megalodon is sometimes called a Megatooth Shark. Some of the teeth found from the ancient species have measured up to seven inches in length. Cleoniceras are an extinct shelled marine animal.
The mystery surrounding the N43 Artifacts hasn't scared buyers away. Since 2012 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball was released, nine of the rare redemptions have sold on eBay. Most have sold for around $600.
