For the collectors who have ever wanted an immediate physical option for a noteworthy moment, 2016 Topps Now Baseball might very well scratch that itch. Think of it as a new take on eTopps with shipping built into the base price. The only catch is that these exclusive 2016 Topps Now Baseball cards are only available for 24 hours through the Topps Online site.
According to Topps' Vice President of Product Development (Clay Luraschi) in a press release, “TOPPS NOW was inspired by input from our passionate baseball fans. Magical moments will be captured on baseball cards the very next day, giving fans everywhere a chance to own a piece of history almost immediately.”

Featuring a standard 2.5" x 3.5" sizing, each 2016 Topps Now Baseball card is printed on a 16-point stock. As evidenced by the "Now" moniker, the release includes key moments or performances from the previous day. The card sales are only available during a 24-hour period. They will be printed to order and then retired from production following the sales window. Specific print runs will be revealed once the selling period has passed.
Although rare, 2016 Topps Now Baseball Autograph versions have entered the mix. Ten signed versions of card #100 (Brandon Crawford) were randomly mailed to those who ordered the card. Topps has teased that more surprises are on the way.

At this point, there is no set number of Topps Now Baseball cards to expect in total but they will be issued regularly based on the events on the field. For instance, the first day of the release (games played on 4/3) includes two notable events in the World Series trophy presentation for the Royals and Francisco Liriano's pitching performance. There is no limit on the amount of cards each day, so some days might have zero cards issued while others have several. New cards will be listed in the early afternoon each day and the sales period will end the following afternoon.

Although the instant gratification will appeal to many, the real draw might be the fact that collectors can obtain cards for new rookie players much quicker than waiting for pack-pulled options. Thanks to 2016 Topps Now Baseball, early rookie standouts Trevor Story and Kenta Maeda both have their first MLB cards with an RC logo.
Another aspect that might concern collectors, a la eTopps, would be the shipment cost for receiving the cards. While it might not be entirely clear during the buying process, free Smart Post shipping is included in the total card price upon checkout for US collectors. Consumers can cut down on the per-card price amount by buying larger quantities of each release. The full price breakdown is shown below:
- 1 card - $9.99
- 5 cards - $29.99 ($5.99 per card)
- 10 cards - $49.99 ($4.99 per card)
- 20 cards - $79.99 ($3.99 per card)
2016 Topps Now Baseball card orders will be shipped within 3-5 business days and will be protected with toploaders.
For those that want to offer their input on the daily cards to be issued, the #TOPPSNOW hashtag on Twitter allows collectors an easy option to let Topps know who they think should be featured.
