If you buy it, Wacky Packages will make fun of it. That has been the case for nearly 50 years. And with 2015 Topps Wacky Packages, that shows no signs of stopping. Keeping with the past couple of years, the product has a couple of different configurations to cater to different types of collectors. Basic hobby boxes should be enough for those who like the base set and don't want a ton of extras. Hobby Collector boxes have fewer cards but several exclusives.
The 2015 Topps Wacky Packages base set has a total of 110 stickers. If you don't factor in the variation backs, this is double the size of recent sets. Besides making fun of food, drinks and toys, there are also a couple of subsets. Batty Baseball spoofs baseball-related products like Big League Chew and Ballpark Franks. Crazy Collectibles takes aim at collecting fads. Coming Soon parodies movies, books and TV shows.
The base set has several parallels that range from the common to the extremely rare. They include Pattern (one per regular pack), Red Metallic (one per Collector pack), Silver (1:3 regular packs), Pencil Art (one per box), Black Ludlow (1:14 Collector packs), Red Ludlow (1:84 Collector packs), Gold (25 per card), Wacky Backs (15 per card, Collector pack-exclusive), Artist Autographs (15 per card, Collector-pack exclusive), Wood (ten per card, Collector pack-exclusive), and Printing Plates.
Tattoos are a basic insert found in regular packs. Inserted 1:4 packs, there should be six per box.
Sketch Cards come in three forms. Basic hand-drawn cards can be found in all packs. Die-Cut and Panoramic Sketch Cards are only in Collector packs.
Exclusive to Collector packs are Embroidered Logo Patch cards and Wardrobe cards that have swatches that might have been used if a Wacky gag was real. Obviously, Wardrobe cards don't have worn memorabilia. Like Cryptozoic's Totally Fabricated cards, they poke fun at the concept. Both Patch and Wardrobe cards have variation versions as well.
Collector boxes come with one premium insert from autographs, memorabilia cards, sketch cards or Printing Plates. Basic hobby boxes don't come with the same promise.
