May the 4th was a good excuse to sit down and watch some Star Wars. It also brought about the start of two promo sets, one aimed at North American collectors and one for those in the UK. 2014 Disney Store Star Wars trading cards are available exclusively at the company's stores in separate waves throughout the month.
To get the cards, collectors must visit a participating Disney store. In the United States and Canada, there's a new pack every week. Each pack has three cards. With nine cards in the set, it requires three different packs to complete.
The UK set is available in a similar fashion, but it takes more trips. For starters, there are only two cards per pack. The set is also bigger at 12 cards, so it takes a total of six packs to complete. Also, new packs are released every two weeks, so the promotion runs much longer.
For both sets, each wave of packs have the same cards. They are not randomly inserted.
These are two completely different sets despite being released at the same time and in the same fashion. Both 2014 Disney Store Star Wars sets do focus on the original film in the franchise, 1977's A New Hope.
