While the many Refractor parallels are one of the main calling cards of Topps Chrome, many collectors are searching for the rookie autographs in 2012 Topps Chrome Baseball. Hobby boxes promise two signatures per box. Most are 2012 Topps Chrome Baseball Rookie Autograph Variations.
The cards come with on-card signatures and have several Refractor parallels (detailed below). A couple of late additions, most notable Bryce Harper and Trevor Bauer, are numbered with their initials. And while the Blue Refractor Bryce Harper autograph is live in packs, the rest of his cards are redemptions. This includes the basic Bryce Harper autograph variation.
In total, there are 32 different 2012 Topps Chrome Baseball Autograph Rookie Variations. The Athletics have the most representation, with five cards on the checklist. This includes Yoenis Cespedes, one of the best cards in the set. Other teams with multiple players include the Tigers, Reds, Twins, Rockies, Yankees and Blue Jays. On the other end of the spectrum the Indians, Royals, Angels, Cubs, Astros, Dodgers, Phillies and Cardinals do not have any players on the 2012 Topps Chrome Baseball Autograph Rookie Variations checklist.
