With the release of 2012 Bowman Chrome Baseball comes a new crop of Prospect Autographs. The checklist boasts a total of 41 players. All feature on-card signatures and players in their MLB uniforms.

One thing that has changed for the 2012 Bowman Chrome Baseball Prospect Autographs is the numbering. Topps has changed them to the players' initials rather than a basic parallel or direct inclusion in the Prospects insert set. Only a handful of players appear in the basic Prospects set: Jorge Soler, Boss Moanaroa, Shawon Dunston Jr, Felipe Rivero, Ravel Santana and John Hellweg.

While these are not official rookie cards, over the long-term, many will treat them similarly. As the hobby continues to evolve, many Bowman Chrome autographs are held in higher regard than the majority of a player's rookie cards.

Besides the basic versions, 2012 Bowman Chrome Prospect Autographs have several numbered parallels. Refractors (#/500), Blue Refractors (#/150,) Gold Refractors (#/50) and Orange Refractors (#/25) are available in both hobby and retail packs. Purple Refractors (#/10), Red Refractors (#/5), SuperFractors (1/1) and Printing Plates are all hobby exclusives.

In total, 2012 Bowman Chrome Baseball delivers one autograph per hobby box. Every third box has a second signature, which might be another Prospect Autograph or one from another insert set.
