2003-04 Topps Matrix Basketball Revisited with The Matrix Movie Comparisons

2003-04 Topps Matrix was interesting, but ultimately unsuccessful at the time of its release. The 220-card base set offered rookies, but the catch was that every rookie was paired with two other fellow rookies, forming 110 different "Matrix Trilogies." Nevertheless, few basketball card hobby boxes hold the quality and quantity of the rookies found in Topps Matrix.

Apparently, when you throw 110 darts at a board, you're gonna hit the bullseye with one of them. In the case of Topps Matrix, the bullseye appears to be a triple "true rookie" featuring the South Beach trio of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh.

Below we look at the top trios from the basketball product and attempt to explain Topps Matrix Basketball through "The Matrix Trilogy" movie series.
