2013 Topps Triple Threads Baseball Cards

2013 Topps Triple Threads Baseball is sticking with the brand's tradition of lots of low-numbered autograph and game-used memorabilia hits. But the design an overall feel shows that it's evolving. Rather than a boisterous pop, the look is a little more classy and quieter, evoking something of a Five Star or Museum Collection vibe.

But let's face it, a lot of collectors buy Triple Threads for the plentiful game-used relics and autographs. 2013 Topps Triple Threads Baseball is no different. Every master box (two mini boxes) promises an autographed triple relic numbered to 99 or less and an autographed relic numbered to 99 or less. There's also a triple relic and another relic, both numbered to 36 or less, in every box. This is carefully broken down within each mini box to help collectors find balance in the types of hits they receive. The mini box that has the autographed triple relic comes with the single relic. The basic triple relic comes with the autographed single relic. Each mini box also has three base cards and a pair of numbered parallels.

The 2013 Topps Triple Threads base set has 100 cards, mixing current and past players. Parallels fall under eight different categories: Amethyst (numbering TBA), Emerald (#/250), Amber (#/125), Gold (#/99), Onyx (#/50), Sapphire (#/25), Printing Plates and Ruby (1/1).

Autographed Triple Relics - 1 per box

Rookie cards in 2013 Topps Triple Threads Baseball are autographed triple relics. They're paired with some other young stars to make up the Rookies and Future Phenoms subset, which features more than 50 players. Jurickson Profar, Dylan Bundy and Manny Machado are among the rookie cards. Other players include Mike Trout, Yu Darvish and Mark Trumbo. Autographs are signed on-card and all are numbered to 99. Parallels include Sepia (#/75), Emerald (#/50), Black with Silver Ink (#/25), Black with Gold Ink (#/10), Ruby (1/1), Wood (1/1) and White Whale Printing Plates.

Autographed Triple Relics come numbered to 18. More than 75 players are featured on the checklist, which features over 250 cards. This means that players have multiple cards. By creating these variations, numbering for individual cards can be kept low. The game-used relics have anywhere from one to five die-cut windows to display the memorabilia. Hank Aaron, Sandy Koufax, Prince Fielder and R.A. Dickey are among those confirmed for the set. Parallels are Gold (#/9), Sapphire (#/3), Ruby (1/1), Wood (1/1) and White Whale Printing Plates (1/1).

Numbered to 36, Autographed Relic Combos come with three autographs and three game-used memorabilia pieces. They have seven parallels, none numbered higher than 27. Upping the ante a little more are Autographed Relic Double Combos (#/3), book cards with six autographs and six memorabilia pieces.

2013 Topps Triple Threads Baseball has several autographed triple relics that are extremely rare, offering unique memorabilia pieces. Jumbo Plus Autographed Relics (#/3) are book cards that have an autograph and an over-sized relic piece on one side of the card, and a player image plus two additional relics on the other. Letter Plus Autographed Relics (#/3) take the same approach but the jumbo relic has been replaced by a letter patch.

Thanks to cut autographs, some of baseball's late greats get in on the action in 2013 Topps Triple Threads Baseball autographed triple relics. Cut Above Cut Signatures combine an autograph with a trio of relics. Dual Cut Above Cut Signatures are book cards with a pair of autographs and a total of six relics. All cut signature cards are one-of-ones.

Triple Relics - 1 per box

More than 50 players are in the Triple Threads Relics set, which is comprised of over 150 cards. Again, collectors will find players with multiple cards. All are numbered to 36. Triple Threads Legends Relics takes a similar approach, only with a much smaller checklist (20 cards) an with retired players. Triple Threads Relic Combos (more than 50 cards, #/36) have memorabilia pieces from three different players. Relics, Legends Relics and Relic Combos cards have five parallels: Sepia (#/27), Emerald (#/18), Gold (#/9), Sapphire (#/3) and Ruby (1/1).

Relic Double Combos (#/18) have six players, each with their own relic swatch.

All-Star Patches have more than 65 different cards, all numbered to 9. They use patch pieces from 2012 All-Star Game workout jerseys. All-Star Jumbo Sleeve Patches, All-Star Jumbo Sleeve Team Patches, All-Star MLB Logo Patch and All-Star Laundry Tag are four one-of-one book card sets that use some of the best patches from their workout jerseys. The expanded design means that all or nearly all of the patch is used on the card.

• Jumbo Plus Relics (#/3), which come with an over-sized memorabilia piece and two other swatches.
• Letter Plus Relics (#/3) that combine two relic pieces with a letter patch.

• Jumbo Letter/Number Logo (1/1), which have three patches from one player including a letter and a hat logo.
• Singular Swatches (1/1).

Autographed Single Relics - 1 per box

More than 100 cards are in 2013 Topps Triple Threads Baseball Unity Autographed Jumbo Relics set. Limited to 99 numbered copies, each has a player signature along with a larger-than-average relic piece. There are five parallel versions, none numbered to more than 75.
