2014 Rittenhouse Continuum Seasons 1 and 2 Trading Cards
Product Details
Time travel, rebellion and the Canadian landscape are all part of 2014 Rittenhouse Continuum Seasons 1 and 2 trading cards. Based on the award-winning series that airs on Syfy in the United States, the set covers the show's first 23 episodes. Boxes promise a pair of autographs and a Relic card with memorabilia used in the making of the show.
Continuum revolves around Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols) traveling back in time from 2077 to stop a group of terrorists from changing the future. And while good and bad sounds very black and white, it's not. Stranded in present-day Vancouver, Continuum is a mix of Science Fiction and procedural drama.
The 2014 Rittenhouse Continuum Seasons 1 and 2 base set has 72 cards. Every episode gets three cards with images and key plot points. The base set also has a Gold parallel.
Autographs include virtually all of the show's main characters. Leading the way is Nichols, who also starred as Scarlett in GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra and in a key role during the final season of Alias. Other signers include Victor Webster (Carlos Fennegra), Erik Knudsen (Alec Sadler), Tony Amendola (Kagame), Lexa Doig (Sonya Valentine) and Roger Cross (Travis Verta).
Other inserts in 2014 Rittenhouse Continuum Seasons 1 and 2 include Stars, Characters and Future Tech.
Sold separately, a binder includes an exclusive promo card.

Product Review
2014 Rittenhouse Continuum Seasons 1 and 2 Product Review
Reviewed by Ryan Cracknell
Good: Extensive autograph list, delivers more than originally announced, limited.
Bad: Bland basic inserts, unattractive base set, condition issues with base cards and inserts.
The Bottom Line: Continuum seems like a prime candidate for a premium pack release from Rittenhouse. While I don’t mind the format, I’d prefer to open a more traditional box given the choice. So I was pleasantly surprised to see that this set was exactly that. As far as premium content goes with autographs and memorabilia cards, 2014 Rittenhouse Continuum Seasons 1 and 2 is great. The list of signers covers all the show’s major characters. Getting three instead of the originally advertised two is equally great. However, the base set and basic inserts could have been better, both in design and quality control. As something of a test product, this is a solid product that over delivers on the autographs and has a small print run helping its long-term potential.
Card Design: 2.8/5.0
My favorite cards in the product, even from a design perspective, are the autographs. For those familiar with Rittenhouse products, they’re simple but great. They hit all the important elements: image, set branding, name and balance. The white space provides a good signing area.
Beyond the autographs, though, I’m not a big fan of how much else looks.
The timeline motif in the base set is appropriate to Continuum’s time-traveling theme, but it doesn’t hold the design well. Equally off-putting for me is the brown and blue color palette. If there are some saving graces, they’re the images and write-ups. The show has lots of great visuals, which are conveyed on many of the cards. The summaries are nice and meaty, taking up most of the backside’s real estate. It’s unfortunate that the foundation elements take so much away from the rest.
Base inserts are drab as well. The base parallels are virtually the same except for a matte finish (as opposed to glossy) and a serial number on the back. I could see many missing these initially. Future Tech doesn’t offer much for an insert. There’s very minimal embossing in the form of a target and that’s it. Stars use a rainbow foil base, which is okay, but not spectacular. Character cards standout a little more, combining both matte and foil finishes.
What really brought the design down for me was the condition of a lot of the base cards and basic inserts. Base cards were riddled with rough edges, like they were cut with a dull blade from the original O-Pee-Chee factory. Both of my Stars inserts had major issues with foil chipping as well. In the 1980s, rough edges was an annoyance but the technology wasn’t there like it is today. And packs aren’t $0.35 any more either. Even though Continuum isn’t the most expensive product out there, collectors deserve a product that doesn’t have widespread condition issues. Hopefully this was an isolated issue.
Checklist: 4.0/5.0
If you’re looking for signatures from big-time superstars, you’re not going to find them. However, if you’re a Continuum fan, which I am, it’s tough not to be impressed. The base set is thorough, offering a trio of cards for each episode from the first two seasons.
Both the Relic and Autograph checklists are also excellent. Relics are virtually all from lead characters, which includes multiple cards for the biggest. Autographs do a phenomenal job of getting the main cast. It’s also not a daunting checklist that is filled out with people you don’t even recognize. Granted, outside of Rachel Nichols, there aren’t many cards that will have large appeal to those who aren’t familiar with the show. But for those looking for something to collector from Continuum, the list is great.
Once again, the basic inserts are a bit of a downer, particularly the overlapping Character and Stars sets. Still, the do work to expand the detailed look of the show through trading cards.
Value: 4.0/5.0
One of the greatest things for collectors (though maybe not for the manufacturers) is when a product delivers more than the odds suggest. Continuum Seasons 1 and 2 boxes promise two autographs. Considering they’re all limited to 300 copies or less, that’s solid to start with. It turns out that boxes actually have three autographs. They’re not Hollywood A-listers, but, as mentioned already, if you like the show, it’s likely you’ll appreciate who’s in the set.
The limited nature runs throughout the product, which could bode well over the long-run. Don’t expect Walking Dead-popularity, but this show could have a strong future and this first set could hold its value decently. There is some speculation there, but the limited nature and extra autograph are huge helps.
The Fun Factor: 3.5/5.0
There are elements of 2014 Rittenhouse Continuum Seasons 1 and 2 that I like a lot and others that need some work. Overall, it’s a solid product that delivers for fans of the show, particularly when it comes to the autographs.
