2010 Tristar TNA Icons WrestlingBox Price: NA
Good: Hulk Hogan Autographs & Letterman Relics, Ric Flair Autographs, low numbered autographs and relics, solid single/double/triple/quad auto checklist
Bad: sticker drop autographs, poor card design, small checklist, lacks excitement, low return on investment
The Bottom Line:
Overall, Icons is an average product that is lacking in many areas and falls short of pre-release expectations. Although, Icons does have three saving graces: Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and a deep auto checklist. At the end of the day, I would only recommend Icons to hardest of hardcore wrestling fans.
The cards feel cheap, the sticker drops look pretty bad at times, and the relics are relatively weak. The coolest looking cards in set by far are the Hulk Hogan Letterman relics, outside of that the design feels like it was inspired by the worst part of the late 90's.
The base set feels extremely short, featuring a brief 100-card checklist. The autograph checklist is pretty deep and features plenty of interesting single, double, triple, and quad autographs. There is also plenty of Hogan and Flair to please hardcore wrestling fans. With that said, the checklist still feels lacking, the product could have benefited from more depth.
Unfortunately, it takes an amazing box of Icons to come close to breaking even. Really, the only foreseeable way to see any sort of return on your investment is pulling some sort of Hogan or Flair relic/auto.
Icons had plenty of Ric Flair, but the products overall lack of flair led to an average at best box break experience. This is one of those products that takes an amazing box to enjoy. The only people who will ultimately find this product enjoyable are hardcore wrestling fans.
