Site Contest: Win a Free 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter Hobby Box
As many collectors already know, trading cards were originally introduced as promotional inserts in tobacco products. Cigarettes (prior to that whole class action law suit a few years back) used to be very active in marketing. Between trading cards and even glamorous models (my grandmother was Miss Chesterfield 1937!), cigarette companies did what they could to market to the masses and reel people in.
After the class action lawsuits in 2006, Topps decided to resurrect the Allen & Ginter trading card brand name and to date it's become one of the most popular and highly sought after brands in Topps' product lineup.
Allen & Ginter is a true vintage style card with hand-painted cards of current baseball players, standout athletes, and other pop culture icons. To read more about the 2014 Topps Allen & Ginter hobby box, check out the full checklist.
