One of the giants of baseball history, Sandy Koufax is best remembered for a relatively short, but highly productive career. The Hall of Fame pitcher does not see the same premium rookie card values as some of the other elite names in baseball history. Even still, the first-year Sandy Koufax card still commands strong values among collectors. The same can really be said for any Sandy Koufax card.
As he has settled into his retirement, Koufax has signed autographs for several card sets, particularly in recent years, but most are very low print runs. Topps is the only company who currently makes signed Sandy Koufax cards. He does still do the occasional signing but they are usually private. The market remains strong for any packed-inserted Sandy Koufax card featuring his autograph.
A rookie in 1955, the only Sandy Koufax rookie card can be found in 1955 Topps Baseball.
Sandy Koufax Rookie Card Checklist
1955 Topps #123

Sandy Koufax's lone rookie card is a beauty. Vivid colors and a classic design make the card a top-draw for vintage collectors. The card showcases a profile close-up image of Koufax, as well as a shot of him waiting with anticipation on the dugout steps. The classic Sandy Koufax card also features a facsimile autograph. Depending on condition, the card's value can push into the thousands. Centering issues make genuinely mint cards very rare.
