A gifted skater and scorer, Patrick Kane was another key piece in the rebuilding process for the Chicago Blackhawks. Taken first overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Kane made his presence known early and often, racking up 72 points on 21 goals and 51 assists during his rookie campaign. This made him and easy choice for the Calder Memorial Trophy for rookie of the year.
A young, brash, and cocky American from Buffalo, New York, Kane's off-ice antics have been a mild distraction at times and has been chalked up to youthful indiscretion. His speed, stick handling and ice awareness make him an explosive winger. Small in stature at just 5'10", many outside observers might think Kane to be an injury-prone winger against the league's growing emphasis on size. However, Kane's ability to avoid contact has made him elusive to defenders.
With a Stanley Cup victory and a knack for putting the puck in the back of the net, Kane has all the components collectors and fans look for in an offensive player. As a result, his cards, memorabilia and autographs look to have strong long-term value. All of his rookie cards come from 2007-08 products, including several with autographs and memorabilia swatches.
