Rookie Card Year: 1983
Investment Rating: 7.0
Marcus Allen football cards and autographed memorabilia appeal to a wide range of collecting and fan bases. Being a dominant force for a major PAC-10 school like USC while winning a Heisman Trophy ensured his long-term collectibility before he even suited up for an NFL team. He then went on to have a Hall-of-Fame career with the Raiders, which helps his hobby standing even further.
Marcus Allen's official rookie card was released in 1983 Topps Football. While his rookie card is #294, Allen also appears on the Raiders team card and the Scoring Leaders card. Additionally, Allen has a few other collectibles that were released that same year. These include 1983 7-Eleven Discs as well as his 1983 Topps Sticker and his insert sticker from the same set.
Marcus Allen's first certified autograph card would be released in 1997 Upper Deck UD3 as part of the Signature Performers insert set. His first memorabilia card came a year earlier in 1996 Collector's Edge Advantage. The relic is a piece of a game-used Super Bowl ball.
With regards to his autographed memorabilia, signed footballs and jersey are at the top of collector's wishlists. He does sign frequently at various autograph events, however, prices for in-person signing opportunities aren't cheap. As a result, supply has not yet outpaced demand and have kept the value of his autographed items stable.

Marcus Allen Key Signature Attributes: An authentic Marcus Allen signature autograph will exhibit several distinguishing characteristics. Regardless of the type of item or when it was signed, look for the following signature features:
- A fairly consistent signature with some unusual lettering.
- The "M" resembles more of an "X" with the left angle line resembling, in itself, a cursive "l."
- The "a" is clearly legible and closed.
- The "r" consists of a quick up and down line, the pen lifts to write the "c" which has a small vertical to it on the top, this flows into a legible "u" before the pen lifts again to print the letter "s."
- The "s" is made in a manner that as it connects to the last name it forms a easily discernible "8."
- The last name gets a little messy with bulbous "l"'s overlapping and a squiggled line finishing the signature.
