Kellen Winslow cards and memorabilia are fondly appreciated by football fans for his contributions to the game. He spent his entire NFL career as the tight end for the San Diego Chargers' high-powered offense during the 1980s. The sustained passing game, nicknamed "Air Coryell" after their coach Don Coryell, was the pre-cursor to what we know today as the "West Coast Offense." Winslow played a pivotal role in the scheme, scoring 45 career touchdowns on 541 receptions for 6,741 yards.
His rookie card is from the 1981 Topps Football set. In addition to his base card, he has cards in the League Leaders and Super Action subsets. Winslow also has first-year cards that were regionally issued by Coke, Jack in the Box and the San Diego Police Department.
Winslow's first certified autograph card is from the 1989 Goal Line HOF Gold art set. It is serial numbered to just 100 total copies. One of his most popular autograph cards is from the 1997 Upper Deck Legends set.
The first Kellen Winslow memorabilia cards weren't produced until 2004. Upper Deck had him in several of their sets, including Finite, Reflections, SP Game Used, SPx and Ultimate Collection. All of them, with the exception of the cards from Finite, include Winslow's autograph and are serial numbered to various quantities. His 2004 Upper Deck Relections Signature Threads card is the most plentiful with a print run of 99.
Kellen Winslow's autographed memorabilia is fairly affordable. He was a willing in-person signer throughout his playing days. He also is an occasional guest at larger sports collectibles shows. A healthy balance between demand and supply has kept the value of his signed items stable.
Kellen Winslow Rookie Card
Winslow's rookie card designates him as an All-Pro selection, a feat he accomplished five times. Centering is the most common condition issue with the card. The picture of him without his helmet was an intimate way of allowing collectors to get to know this high profile rookie.
