Jeff Skinner Hockey Cards: Rookie Cards Checklist and Buying Guide

Jeff Skinner

Date of Birth: 5/16/1992
Rookie Card Year: 2010-11
Investment Rating: 5.0 (Average)

Selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, the Carolina Hurricanes found a diamond in the rough with Jeff Skinner. The 5'11" and 200 lb. forward has an instinctive ability to be in the right place at the right time. His puck awareness and ice vision helped him rack up 63 points in his rookie campaign (31 goals and 32 assists).

Skinner was named to the 2010-11 All-Star Game, replacing the injured Sidney Crosby. He was the first 18-year-old since Steve Yzerman to be named to the game's starting roster. Exceeding many critics expectations, Skinner topped all freshman en route to capturing the league's Calder Trophy as the 2010-11 Rookie of the Year.

Skinner has 18 different rookie cards, half of which are autographed. They are available at multiple price points for collectors of every budget, but it is his 2010-11 Upper Deck Young Guns card that draws the most consistent interest. Playing in a smaller market has hindered his hobby stature, however, only slightly as the Hurricanes are recent Stanley Cup Champions and have displayed a dedication to winning, earning the team, and its players, a loyal fan following.
