Rookie Cards

It's tough for athletes to put together amazing careers somewhat on the down-low when they play in New York. But that's what Henrik Lundvist has done. He is arguably the greatest goalie in New York Rangers history, leading the franchise in wins while holding down impressive tallies in save percentage and goals against average. While Henrik Lundqvist cards and autographed memorabilia are popular, it's not where you might expect it given his accomplishments in both New York and on the international stage.

Henrik Lundqvist rookie cards are in 2005-06 products. At this point, the singles route is probably better than taking your chance on wax. He's joined by rookies of Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin and several other All-Stars in loaded 2005-06 products. That said, Lundqvist's singles are largely affordable save for a couple of exceptions.

The most valuable Henrik Lundqvist rookie card is from 2005-06 Upper Deck The Cup. This is a landmark product that combined the remarkable rookie class with some ultra premium cards. Lundqvist's rookie card is numbered to 199 and has both an on-card autograph and a patch swatch.

Other top Lundqvist rookies include SP Authentic and Upper Deck Ultimate Collection. Both are highlighted by on-card signatures.

While Lundqvist's first NHL cards came out in 2005-06, he does have several cards that predate his arrival in New York. His first notable card came out in 2000-01 Upper Deck Sweden. It's understandably tough to find and commands fairly hefty prices given the basic nature of the card.

It is worth noting that Lundqvist has a redemption insert from 2004-05 SP Authentic Hockey. These were released during the strike but the redeemed cards didn't come out until the following year.
