The success of Aaron Rodgers has been a lesson in patience. Not only for him, but the Green Bay Packers organization and their fans as well. The Brett Favre retirement fiasco put Rodgers in the position of having to simply wait, learn, practice, learn and wait some more. Those lessons paid off in big ways as Rodgers led the Packers to their 13th league championship with their win in Super Bowl XLV. Rodgers was named the game's MVP and the NFL Player of the Year in 2010.
Drafted out of the University of California-Berkley in the first round (24th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft, Rodgers set many team records. He is a highly efficient on-field tactician who displays a high degree of accuracy and solid decision-making in his passing game. Those skills were definitely in contrast to the gun-slinging Favre whose propensity for turning the ball over in his later years was a trait that drove both his coaches and fans crazy.
With Rodgers' selection in 2005, it was an obvious signal that the Packers had a new direction in mind. Rodgers' Super Bowl victory has cemented his place on the team and in the hearts of fans.
