2013 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions shows few limits when it comes to subject matter. Spanning several sports, history, science and more, the retro-themed brand returns with one of the hobby's most eclectic lineups.
The 2013 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions base set isn't limited to one or two sports. It blends mainstream sports like baseball, football and basketball with athletes from several secondary sports. It's all about variety. The 150 base cards are complimented by 40 short prints and 20 super short prints. The set is capped with 15 High Series Mini Short Prints.
Mini cards come with several different versions including Magician Back and Presidential Back. Mini cards combine to fall ten per box.
2013 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions hobby boxes have three total hits. These include autographs, memorabilia cards, printing plates and Animal Kingdom patch cards. Sports Royalty autograph signers cover a wide spectrum. They include Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Oscar de la Hoya, Mark McGwire, Tony Hawk, Mario Lemieux, Joe Namath, Bart Starr, Allen Iverson, Jerry Rice, Mario Andretti, Bruce Smith and Reggie Jackson.
Popular Animal Kingdom patch cards return. These feature embroidered patches showcasing a wide spectrum of wildlife. In previous years, these have been highly coveted by set collectors. Animal Kingdom patch cards fall approximately five per 16-box case.
End of Days is an art-based insert set that's inspired by classic science fiction. Cards are done in 3D and come with two different stories, Global Warming and Alien Invasion. Each story has 21 cards. End of Days cards are inserted about 1:4 boxes.
Museum Collection moves ahead in time from 2012's Civil War theme to the "Wild West." The shadowbox-style cards vary in size and come with an embedded historical relic. Memorabilia includes railroad pieces, saloon items and gold.
Goodwin Masterpieces - Art of the Ages are shrunken versions of classic paintings. Artists tackle the likes of Monet, Van Gogh and more done as one-of-one art cards.
New to 2013 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions are Elements book cards. Most interesting than the poster found in almost every junior high science lab, the cards include an embedded piece of the featured element.
