Upper Deck Announces Trading Card Giveaway for Canada’s National Hockey Card Day
Upper Deck has announced that they will be celebrating Canada’s upcoming National Hockey Card Day on February 21st with a special promotion. Upper Deck will be giving away hundreds of thousands of exclusive “National Hockey Card Day” NHL trading card packs to collectors throughout Canada. The packs will contain cards from the limited edition 15 card 2008-2009 NHL Upper Deck National Hockey Card Day Set.
The set, which will only be available on National Hockey Card Day, includes a mix of Canadian born NHL Rookies, Superstars and Legends. The set will be given away free of charge at hundreds of Canadian hobby shops, as well as a handful of retail chains, on Saturday, Feb. 21. Each of the cards will be stamped with the exclusive “National Hockey Card Day” seal.
Josh Zusman, Upper Deck’s hockey brand manager, weighed in on the announcement, “We’re extremely excited about this upcoming NHL promotion. As the league and the Players’ Association’s exclusive trading card licensee, it’s only fitting that Upper Deck should produce an exclusive set just for Canadian fans.”
The base set of 15 cards, is divided into three subsets:

- Pride of Canada
- Sidney Crosby
- Vincent Lecavalier
- Jarome Iginla
- Joe Sakic
- Martin Brodeur
- Hockey’s Heroes
- Wayne Gretzky
- Mario Lemieux
- Gordie Howe
- Bobby Orr
- Don Cherry
