Topps Offers UFC Screen Prints, Special TapouT Shirt Through Online Store
A little more than a year in, the partnership between Topps and the UFC has to be viewed as a success for everyone involved. The world's number one MMA promotion has found another way to connect with its fans, while the venerable card manufacturer has found a hip new sport to market in a time when traditional licenses are becoming more scarce.
Oh, and collectors have given the thumbs up to Topps UFC cards too.
Now Topps has come up with some more unique UFC collectibles available only through its online store. First up is a special Topps MMA shirt produced by TapouT, the sport's premier clothing designer. For $28, collectors get the shirt plus an exclusive pack of five TapouT-themed cards featuring the likes of Kenny Florian and Kimbo Slice.
Also for sale are oversized screen prints based on the inserts from the 2010 Topps UFC Main Event set that look like mid-20th Century propaganda posters. The prints measure 17" by 21" and are produced on acid-free archival paper.
They're also signed by Chris Speakman, the artist who put them together. Each print is limited to just 100 copies and sells for $60. The five featured athletes are all UFC superstars: Chuck Liddell, B.J. Penn, Brock Lesnar, Randy Couture and Georges St. Pierre.
Topps is also selling boxes of UFC Main Event through its online store for $65. Collectors should take note, though, that these are retail boxes with one memorabilia or autograph card and not the hobby boxes with five hits, which sell through the usual hobby channels for a little more than twice that price.
