Theft of Finite Sports Memorabilia Catches Up With Florida Man

A Florida man is living proof that stealing sports memorabilia doesn't pay, as the finite nature of the items makes it easy for your past to catch up to you, even years after the act was committed.

40-year old Bradley M. Anderson of North Loxahatchee, Florida was taken into police custody on March 7th, nearly six years after stealing a small fortune in sports memorabilia from a Rutland shop. Anderson is accused of stealing 50 Patriots helmets, 20 signed canvas Tom Brady pictures worth roughly $16,000, 25 Red Sox World Series baseballs, a signed Michael Jordan jersey, Magic Johnson warmup shirts and autographed LeBron James shoes among other things.

According to court documents, the store owner left Anderson a key to his shop while he was out-of-town in April of 2005. During this time, Anderson was supposed to watch the store and take care of a few small tasks. When the store owner returned, he found no sign of Anderson and half his store missing.

Police just recently found out that Mr. Anderson had sent several boxes with merchandise matching that which was stolen to a Coral Springs, Fla., shop, which he picked up several days afterward. He was recently arraigned in Western Worcester District Court. He is due back in court on May 3rd and will face the charges he thought time had forgotten.
