Rare Stephen Strasburg Red Bowman Autograph Returns To The Auction Block
Earlier today, the infamous 2010 Bowman Stephen Strasburg 1/1 Red Auto re-hit the auction block for the second time in the last month. Several weeks ago the rare Strasburg Auto made it's first public appearance on eBay, at one point during the 10-day auction nearly surpassing the $1,000,000 threshold. Unfortunately, before the clock ran out, the seller suddenly ended the auction due to the amount of "bogus" bids that had been placed.
This time around the seller has chosen to take extra precautions to ensure the integrity of bids placed by bringing his rare baseball treasure to the Maryland based auction house Huggins and Scott. Co-owner Bill Huggins believes that the card will fetch only $50,000 this time around, which would still be high enough to nearly double the second sale of the Stephen Strasburg Superfractor.
The seller has chosen to not disclose his name, but it is believed that the Red Auto was pulled from a $275 jumbo box of 2010 Bowman Baseball.
At noon today, bidding began at $9,000 and at the time this article was published had reached $10,000. The auction is set to come to a close on July 28th.
