Tavares and Evans easily retain the top 2 spots this week. If you haven't noticed, Kings Guard Tyreke Evans is having one of the better rookie seasons in recent memory (20.5 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 5 APG, 1.5 SPG, 45.7 FG%). When you watch Evans play, you feel like your watching a Seasoned Veteran. Rookies aren't supposed to be this versatile and efficient! The Brandon Jennings ship is clearly sinking, as his scoring average has dropped to 17.2 PPG and he's shooting a porous 38% from the field. Av's Center Matt Duchene is still leading the all NHL Rookies in both total Scoring and Goals. For these reasons, Duchene skates into the #3 spot, while Jennings falls to #4.
New to the list is Nationals flame thrower and number #1 pick in the 2009 MLB Draft Stephen Strasburg. Right now is an odd time for Rookie Hotlists. With the beggining of the Baseball season right around the corner, a new class of Rookies will soon replace last years. I think all signs point to 2010 being a much stronger season for rookie hunting. Last year was one of the worst years in memory. Also, I refuse to put Bryce Harper on this list. Why on Earth does a 17 year old have a baseball card????
Overall, not much has changed from last week, no major developments warranted much movement.

The Big Questions that could shape Next Week's Rankings:
Can Matt Duchene continue to lead the NHL in Rookie Scoring? If so, will we see a boost in both his book value and secondary market demand? Can Brandon Jennings recapture some of his early season magic or will he fall even further? Which NBA Lottery picks will begin to play a larger role on their respective teams?
Nobody knows sports cards and memorabilia better than the people who are most passionate about collecting them. Help influence the result of our next rankings by weighing in with your opinion below.

You do realize that there are baseball cards of 16 years and younger right? It’s actually not as rare as you thinnk in the baseball world. Also, I think you forgot 3 guys by the name of Jesus Montero, Jason Heyward, and Michael Stanton. Those three are easily the hottest baseball prospects on the planet right now.

Once the season starts, there’s no reason Heyward can’t take the #1 spot once 2010 Rookies hit the list. I would take Buster Posey and Carlos Santana over Montero (who needs another year in the minors and projects as a DH). Stanton I certainly agree with, his raw power is off the charts, yet he needs another year in the minors. Your forgetting Desmond Jennings, he might not make the Rays out of spring training, but could get the call earlier than people think.
My Bad, Steven Strasburg should not have the list, he is a 2010 Rookie (should be). I’m also not as big a fan of him as most. Strasburg is going to have to understand that there is a reason no Starter throws over 100 MPH on a regular basis, it’s because it’s not possible. At least not without destroying your arm in 140 Innings.
Here’s the deal on 16 year olds on cards, it’s straight up wrong. It’s called making money off of a 16 year old phenom with a softball swing that is in highschool. I don’t think I’m alone on this one. You can’t have a legit RC if you haven’t even been drafted. Sure, Latin America has 16 year old players, but at least they signed with a Major League Team. On a side note, a buddy of mine who pitched in Division 1 said that Harpers’ gonna have to have to completely change his swing to hit in the majors. On top of that, Baseball is the only sport where the majority of development is done between 18-24. Whether it be in college or going from rookie league to AAA. That’s why so many 1st rounders fail, they don’t reallize they have to get twice as good as they already are just to crack the bigs.
Grant, once the season starts, I plan on adding a PCR Top 25 Rankings (Prospect Cardboard Rankings). Also, we’ll know which rookies make the team out of camp and which ones are a month or so away from getting called up.

I would have to say that strasburg and hanson should be in the top 10. And Madison bumgarner should me on the map too.

Ya dude… Heyward aint a rookie yet. I hope he does break the starting roster soon though.

During last season Tommy Hanson would have made the top 10, unfortunately, we just started doing the RCR a few weeks ago. Bumgarner is definately on the map, it;s crazy how much talent has gone through the Giants system over the last couple years! Yeah, it feels like Heyward could be one of those players you roll the dice on and break camp with.
