Panini Gets 2012 Olympics License, Stickers and Trading Card Game Set To Release In Early 2012
On the heals of Panini’s successful 2010 FIFA World Cup Stickers, the sticker and trading card manufacturer gets official license for another major world sporting event.
Panini recently struck a deal with the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic games that will allow the popular sticker and sports card manufacturer the rights to create all the stickers for the 2012 Olympics.
Panini will create a sticker collection that will coincide with the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The sticker collection is set to go on sale during the spring of 2012. Around the same Panini will also release a collectible trading card game featuring past and present Olympic athletes.
“Panini sticker collections are a staple of playgrounds—and offices—across the country around major sporting events and London 2012 will be no different,” says Charlie Wijeratna, London 2012’s director of commercial negotiations.
“Of course there is great fun to be had collecting and swapping stickers, but this is also an amazing opportunity for young people to find out more about Olympic and Paralympic history, sports and the athletes themselves. We’re thrilled to be working with Panini on this.”
Panini's Sticker collections have become extremely popular with kids over the last year, especially their recent 2010 World Cup Sticker Collection.
