Panini Poised to Fulfill Wilmer Flores 2008 Donruss Autograph Redemptions
The wait is almost over for collectors who have been patiently waiting to receive their Wilmer Flores autographed rookie card redemptions from Donruss / Panini America.
Panini America apparently had trouble getting Flores to return the signatures.
Mike Payne, Panini America's Brand Manager, explained, "Our acquisitions team deserves a lot of credit for staying on top of this and for their continued pursuit of the signatures, even after Flores left the country after last season and after he had changed agents during the off-season."
Wilmer Flores, still only 17 years old, is one of the top New York Mets' most highly rated prospects. Redemptions for his autographed rookie card were inserted into a number of different Donruss products, including 2008 Prime Cuts Baseball, 2008 Donruss Threads Baseball, 2008 Americana Sports Legends and 2008 Donruss Extra Edition Baseball.
Flores, still only 17-years-old, is ranked as the #2 prospect in the New York Mets organization by Baseball America and has been selected to represent the World Team in the 2009 Futures Game.
Last season (his first as a pro), Flores batted a combined .307 with 8 HR and 42 RBI in 280 AB's for three minor league teams. So far in 2009 he is batting .275 with 2 HR and 20 RBI for Class A Savannah of the South Atlantic League.
Panini America did not specify an exact timeframe for fulfilling Wilmer Flores autograph redemption requests, but did say that they would begin shipping soon.
