New England Patriots Lineman Jarvis Green to Hold Sports Memorabilia Auction for Benefit Charity
England Patriots defensive lineman Jarvis Green is no stranger to philanthropy. In addition to hosting two separate local events that went to benefit local single working moms, he spearheaded a fundraiser to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims in his native Louisiana.
Green hopes to eclipse the success of his past events when he hosts the third Jarvis Green Foundation Wine Tasting Gala at the Rhode Island Convention Center this Friday, November 6th. While the first two successfully raising $75,000 and $62,000, he hopes to raise an ambitious $125,000 this time around. The proceeds of his fundraiser will go to benefit several disadvantaged single working mothers in the Rhode Island area.
Green said that after two years the event was ready to grow, and that required a change of scenery. By moving the wine tasting to Providence he expects it to attract a bigger, more diverse crowd including men who will be attracted to food, music, cigars and the chance to meet some of Green’s Patriot teammates.
“Being downtown, it should be the best one yet,” he said.
One of the highlights of the event will be a silent sports memorabilia auction. In addition to a treasure trove of New England Patriots memorabilia, Green says he anticipates as many as a dozen of his teammates showing up for the event.
Jarvis’s local philanthropy was rewarded back in 2006 when he was awarded the 2006 New England Patriots Ron Burton Community Service Award.
Tickets for the event cost $100 per head and can be purchased at The-jarvis-green-foundation.ticketleap.com.
