Mitt Romney Announces His Return to the Baseball Card Arena

Mitt Romney has announced his return to the baseball card arena - this time on his own terms. The Boston Herald reports that Romney, whose rookie cards can be found in both the 2008 Upper Deck Baseball and 2008 Topps Baseball Card Sets, has created his own baseball cards to raise donations for his political action committee, the Free and Strong America.

Romney, a season ticket holder and long time fan of the Red Sox, has timed the release of his set to coincide with the start of the 2009 MLB Regular Season.

RealClearPolitics.com reports receiving an email from Romney in which he wrote, “It’s Opening Day, and time to have some fun. For me, the first pitch of the Major League Baseball season means that winter is finally over and spring is here. I remember all the fun I had as a parent taking my boys to Fenway Park. We still have season tickets, and I’ll be rooting for the Red Sox all season long. But whether you’re rooting for the BoSox or for your own favorite team, there’s one thing on which we can all agree - the need to keep promoting our conservative agenda and take back Congress in 2010.”

Donors have the option of contributing a $25 donation to receive Romney's new baseball card, a $75 donation to receive both a Romney card and a baseball cap, or a $250 donation to receive both a card and a baseball autographed by Romney himself.
