Collector Pulls JFK Auto From Target Retail Pack

Collector Pulls JFK Auto From Target Retail Pack

Retail sports card products have long been considered to be the ugly stepchild of hobby products. This is due in large part to the fact that retail sports card products have a much lower ratio of hits in them.

Retail packs and blaster boxes do, however, allow casual and fringe collectors to easily and conveniently participate in the hobby because of their numerous distribution points. Two of the nation's largest retailers, Wal Mart and Target, both carry a pretty good selection of recent packs and blaster boxes of recent sports card releases. Retail products are also considerably less expensive, and are a great option for set builders.

There are, however, exceptions to these general rules. Every once and awhile, big hits are reported from retail products. The following video highlights one such situation in which a collector pulled a 1/1 John F. Kennedy cut autograph from a single retail pack of 2009 Topps American Heritage:

  1. I just pulled the George Washington redemption card on Friday from a Walmart in Sunnyside, WA. So two of the biggest pulls out of 2009 Topps Heritage were pulled from retail stores now.
