Multi-Estate Auction Contains Valuable Sports Memorabilia
Philip Weiss Auctions is hosting a multi-estate sale containing over 1,400 lots in Oceanside, New York on June 9th and 11th. The first day will center more on home decorations and furniture from various estates in the area. The second day has the collectible items and all the sports memorabilia.
Highlights of the the auction on June 11th include a copy of "The Babe Ruth Story" signed by the baseball legend and baseballs signed by the 1938 Brooklyn Dodgers, the 1974-76 New York Yankees, Richard Nixon, Yogi Berra, Sandy Koufax and many others. There are also complete sets of 1967, 1970 and 1973 Topps Baseball, as well a large collection of T205 graded tobacco cards, graded 1950s and ‘60s baseball cards, and various Babe Ruth and "Shoeless" Joe Jackson cards.
Additional sports items include a group of 1928 Brae Burn Country Club championship golf programs signed by Bobby Jones, Walter Hagen, Frances Ouimet and many more; two Syracuse University team-signed footballs (the 1959/60 Cotton Bowl championship team with Ernie Davis); a signed Muhammad Ali photo and a 1971 “Man of the Year" program signed by Ali, Joe Louis and baseball's Jackie Robinson.
The massive auction has a wide variety of items that will appeal to many types of collectors. Lots include comic books, stamps, celebrity autographs and rock and roll collectibles in addition to sports memorabilia.
