Luc Robitaille Auctions Memorabilia for Charity
NHL Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille has been in the news lately due to his financial troubles, which are detailed here. On a more positive note, he plans to raise money for his charity, Echoes of Hope, through an auction of his personal memorabilia.
"The Luc Robitaille Collection" has a wide range of items that are sure to appeal to collectors of all sports. Some hockey highlights include the puck that marked Robitaille's 500th NHL goal, his signed and game-worn jersey from the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals and the complete goal and net from when he scored his 611th goal that broke Gordie Howe's NHL record for most goals by a left-winger. Other sports are represented by a Joe Montana signed football and Kansas City Chiefs jersey, an Upper Deck Authenticated Michael Jordan autographed jersey and boxing gloves signed by Muhammad Ali.
The collection also contains an impressive group of older baseball and hockey cards. Lot #56 features a trio of iconic cards from the 1909-11 T206 set: Joe Tinker, Frank Evers and Frank Chance. Additionally, a 1951-52 Parkhurst Gordie Howe rookie card is available, as well as a career hockey card collection of Luc Robitaille including rookie cards, autographs and one-of-ones.
The final item in the collection is the opportunity to participate in Robitaille's 2011 Celebrity Shoot Out in Park City, Utah, playing alongside NHL Alumni and Hollywood celebrities. Bidding starts at $10,000 for this unique experience.
