Leon Sandcastle Football Cards to Appear in 2013 Panini and Topps Products

It was only a matter of time that Leon Sandcastle would get a football card. Now he's getting two. Panini has announced plans to include Deion Sanders' alter ego on a pair of early-season releases.

The first Leon Sandcastle football card is slated for 2013 Score Football, which comes out in May. According to Panini, the card will only be inserted in retail packs. In June, an autographed Leon Sandcastle card will be included in 2013 Prestige Football as a hobby-exclusive insert.

UPDATE (4/30): It looks like collectors can look forward to Leon Sandcastle cards from Topps as well. The company posted the following image on Twitter today, which points towards a card in 2013 Bowman Football. There was no mention if the card was part of the base set or an insert.

The Leon Sandcastle character was created as a way to promote the 2013 NFL Draft. It debuted in a Super Bowl commercial and has been followed up by several other vignettes, including at the combine. He's also in NFL Madden '13.
