Jay Cutler’s Bears Jerseys Now Available
The market moves fast.
It's been less than 24 hours since the Denver Broncos shipped disgruntled franchise quarterback Jay Cutler to the Windy City and already multiple versions of his #6 Chicago Bears jersey are popping up on eBay and the rest of the online market.
Presales for his NFL-endorsed Rebok white home jersey and navy blue road jersey are selling for $75 each and a couple eBay listings feature an orange jersey for $129. Cutler's departure from Denver has significantly cooled the sales of his Broncos jerseys. Bill Vizas, owner of Bill's Sports Collectibles in Denver, stated that he has marked down Cutler's low-end jerseys from $75 to $19 and his high-end jerseys from $250 to $99. Vizas explains that sales for Cutler's jerseys have been in steady decline due in greater part to his 17-20 record as the Broncos' starting quarterback rather than his trade to the Bears.
Last season, Cutler threw for 4,526 yards and 25 touchdowns/18 interceptions en route to his first Pro Bowl bid, but his poor performance over the final three regular season games contributed significantly to the Broncos' late season slide that bumped them from the top spot in the AFC West and, subsequently, the AFC playoff picture.
The Bears paid a hefty price to acquire the Tulane alum, sending quarterback Kyle Orton, two first-round picks (2009 and 2010), and their third-round pick from the 2009 draft. Denver will send their 2009 fifth-round pick with Cutler as compensation.
