Winnipeg Jets Announce New Logo
Much to the delight of fans, the Winnipeg Jets have released the images for the new logo that will grace the team uniforms. Winnipeg has long pined for the return of the NHL after their team left in 1996 to become the Phoenix Coyotes. Winnipeg fans again have a team and a logo to build their passionate fan base around.
Leading up to the release, there were reports from Upper Deck that the uncertainty around the logo was delaying the inclusion of Jets' cards into upcoming hockey card sets. Upper Deck even tweeted, “The delay in releasing uniforms and having photo shoots for the #Winnipeg #Jets is really hindering our ability to get cards done of them." The delay came as a result of the sale and relocation of the team from Atlanta, where they spent twelve seasons as the Thrashers.
The design for the Jets' new logo was developed in partnership with Reebok and the NHL. It was inspired by the logo of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
