2011-12 SPx Hockey Autograph Rookie Jerseys Gallery and Guide

The 2011-12 SPx Hockey Autograph Rookie Jerseys bring a deep crop of first-year players into the high-end mix. This continues a long-standing tradition for the set. For more than a decade, a centerpiece of Upper Deck's SPx brand has been autographed jersey rookie cards. Bringing together many of the most popular elements in the hobby, the cards are consistently among the most desirable rookie cards. While more high-end brands have stolen some of SPx's thunder in recent years, some may see these cards as solid bargains.

A total of 32 cards make up the 2011-12 SPx Hockey Autograph Rookie Jerseys checklist. Players are divided into two levels. Level 1, which runs from numbers 174 to 199, are serial numbered to 799. The final six rookies, numbers 200 to 205, are limited to 499 numbered copies.

Every 2011-12 SPx Hockey Autograph Rookie Jersey also has a Spectrum parallel. Numbered to 25, each parallel not only has a patch, but the autograph is inscribed as well.

It is worth noting that the autographs are done on clear stickers and not directly on the card.

Not surprisingly, early eBay sales have been led by Oilers rookie star, Ryan Nugent Hopkins. The card is hovering in the $200 range. After that, there is a sizable drop. The first Gabriel Landeskog cards are going for about half of the Nugent-Hopkins cards. Just below that are the other Level 2 short prints of Sean Couturier, Cody Hodgson and Mark Scheifele.

Trading much higher across the board are the 2011-12 SPx Hockey Autograph Rookie Jerseys Spectrum parallels. The inscriptions offer collectors something a little different. They seem to be inscribed with a cheer for their junior team. Landeskog's, "Go, Rangers!" (referring to the Kitchener Rangers, not the New York Rangers) seems a little strange.
