Francisco Liriano Rookie Card Checklist
Francisco Liriano threw the first no-hitter of the 2011 season on Tuesday night. It could easily be regarded as one of the more improbable no-hitters in a Major League game. Liriano had never pitched a complete game in his career before Tuesday night and was having a less then stellar season, compiling a 1-4 record with a 9.13 ERA. It took Liriano 123 pitches in all, walking a total of six Chicago White Sox batters and striking out only two .
Baseball fans surely remember the stir Liriano caused when he broke into the league as a starter in 2006 with a 12-3 record and an ERA of 2.19. Injuries then derailed Liriano's career as he had to undergo Tommy John surgery in November 2006. Liriano missed the entire 2007 season and had largely struggled in his sporadic appearances since then.
