Ray Guy’s Super Bowl Rings Sell for Big Money
As we mentioned last week, Ray Guy was forced to sell his three Super Bowl rings to pay off part of the debt he has accrued in his later years. The rings were included in one lot and estimates had them going for as much as $90,000. The total price eventually settled at $80,100 ($96,216 with buyer's premium). The lower price was likely a result of the rings being packaged together instead of being sold separately. The new owner of the rings has not been named.
Guy was reached by The Augusta Chronicle before the auction and asked about the sale of his rings. He responded, "I don't want to talk about it. I'm not trying to be hateful, but sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do."
The rings had been on display at the National in Chicago last week before they were sold through Nate D. Sanders Auctions.
