Panini Reveals Wrapper Redemption Cards for the National
Panini has announced further plans for the upcoming National, releasing images of the cards that will be available to collectors through their wrapper redemption program. The cards cover football, basketball and hockey, as well as one card of late 80s icon, Michael Jackson (Justin Bieber, Panini's other music license, is nowhere to be seen).
Jackson isn't the only 80s icon appearing at the Panini booth in Chicago. A handful of football cards will have the old-school Donruss Rated Rookies logo.
Base cards use a slightly altered version of the Donruss Elite Football design. Subjects in the 19-card set include Dirk Nowitzki, Kobe Bryant, Tim Thomas, Sidney Crosby, Aaron Rodgers and Adrian Peterson. A second Terrelle Pryor card will also be in the set. Parallels numbered to 25, 10 and 5 will be randomly inserted. Collectors can also be on the lookout for autographed cards and redemption cards for autographed memorabilia pieces.
Three insert sets will also be included in wrapper redemption packs. First-year NFL and NHL players are mixed together in a ten-card rookie set. Team Colors is an eight-card set featuring standouts from the Chicago Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks in honor of the National's host city. Finally, the two-card Headliners set highlights the Packers' Super Bowl and Bruins' Stanley Cup victories.
Panini has not yet announced specific details on how the wrapper redemption program will be run.
Below is a gallery of some of the wrapper redemption highlights. All of the cards can be seen on Panini's blog.
