Cam Newton Nominated Again for Weekly Panini Rookie Honors
Panini's NFL Rookie of the Week promotion chugs along, with the company unveiling the Week 3 nominees. For the third consecutive time, voting includes Cam Newton who is on a remarkable journey through his rookie season. He is joined by four new nominees.
This week's virtual card design is based on 2011 Timeless Treasures Football.
NFL Rookie of the Week Nominees for Week 3
Dan Bailey, Dallas
Six-for-six on field goal attempts and accounted for all points scored for Dallas. Bailey kicked the game-winning field goal with less than two minutes remaining.
Julio Jones, Atlanta
Six receptions for 115 yards.
Cam Newton, Carolina
158 yards passing and one touchdown while leading Carolina to his first win as a pro.
Torrey Smith, Baltimore
Five receptions for 152 yards and three touchdowns. Smith is the first rookie to catch three touchdowns in the first quarter of a game.
Stefan Wisniewski, Oakland
Contributed to the offensive line that led the Raiders to 234 rushing yards and only one sack allowed.
Denarius Moore earned the distinction of Player of the Week for Week 2 based on an explosive performance where he racked up 146 receiving yards and a touchdown after being thrust into the starting role because of injuries.
As a quick recap, Pepsi and Panini have partnered for the weekly rookie-centric NFL promotion. The contest lets fans vote on the NFL Rookie of the Week. Panini will award prizes throughout the season to those who help promote the contest through Facebook and Twitter.
Each week, NFL.com will showcase the top five rookie performances on a special Pepsi-sponsored voting page. After making their choice, fans are to visit the Panini Facebook page to view virtual cards of the five featured players. The virtual card designs change each week and incorporate many of Panini's product lines.
To be eligible for prizes, collectors must share the image of the card on their Facebook page and Panini's Facebook. Lastly, the image must be shared on Twitter using the hashtag #PepsiROW and reference @paniniamerica.
