eBay Idiot of the Week: The Word Master
-Tries to sell an ordinary card for an extraordinary price
-Thinks his colorful "description" will entice buyers to pay infinitely more than a card is worth
Things that are Wrong with this Auction:
-Seller has no eBay experience
-Card has a book value of only $50.
-Cards normally sell for around 50% or less of their book value.
-Seller is asking for $500 plus $10 shipping.
-Asking price is 1,000% higher than book price and 2,000% higher than expected sale price of the card.
-Shipping should be around $3 dollars for one card, not $10.
-Seller makes an ordinary card sound impossibly rare.
Even if this card were a 1/1, I'm fairly certain no Prestige card ever made could sell for $500 dollars! To give you an idea of just how idiotic this auction is, I found a dual autograph card of Peyton Manning and Dallas Clark from 2008 Upper Deck Exquisite - which is arguably the most prolific high-end product ever made -and it has a "Buy-it-Now" price of only $139.
