Delta Dugout Event Adds Excitement to Subway Series
The second-annual Delta Dugout will be held this weekend, May 20th - 22nd, at Madison Square Park. The interactive fan-centered event is intended to add fun and excitement to the inter-city battle between the New York Yankees and Mets. Each of the three games in the series will be shown on a JumboTron for those that cannot make it to the game.
The free event kicks off at 11 AM on Friday and will feature batting cages, a fast pitch challenge, current players from both teams and a special concert performed by former Yankee, Bernie Williams.
Joba Chamberlain and Josh Thole will both host clinics at the Dugout and there will many giveaways throughout the weekend. Also, there will be a Steiner Sports silent auction including signed memorabilia from Mets and Yankees players.
Visit the Delta Dugout Facebook page for further information and updates from the event.
The term "Subway Series" originally applied to New York's inter-city World Series match-ups during the 1920s to 50s. Interleague play ushered in a new era of pitting the Mets and Yankees against one another on an annual basis starting in 1997.
