Cards For a Cause: The 2008 UD Yankee Stadium Tribute Set Charity Drive

Vowing to “Fight Cancer One Card at a Time”, members of The Bench sports card trading forum have undertaken the 2008 UD Yankee Stadium Tribute Set Charity Drive.

yslruthcard 214x300Collecting sports cards and memorabilia is a great hobby embraced by hundreds of thousands - if not millions - of collectors world wide. One of the best things about the hobby is the people. The members of the sports card and memorabilia hobby are, with few exceptions, cut from a different cloth. For a vivid example of this fact, one need look no further then then the charitable project currently being spearheaded by The Bench.

Vowing to "Fight Cancer One Card at a Time", members of this popular sports card trading forum started the 2008 UD Yankee Stadium Tribute Set Charity Drive, a philanthropic project of their own creation intended to benefit The Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research.

The Bench’s goal is to complete the entire 6600+ card 2008 Upper Deck Yankee Stadium Legacy insert set. Cards from this massive insert set can be found in all 2008 Upper Deck Baseball Card Products. Once the set has been completed, The Bench will auction off the set and donate 100% of the proceeds to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

After many months of hard work, The Bench's 7000+ member community has assembled over half of the cards needed to complete the Yankee Stadium Legacy Set. While that is a great accomplishment in and of itself, there is much work still to be done.

"We need your help. We are accepting all Yankee Stadium Legacy card donations," The Bench said in a recent press release, "Any duplicate cards received will be traded for cards still needed. We are unable to purchase any cards, nor can we accept monetary donations."
