Panini Previews 2010-11 Gold Standard Basketball

Panini has released a video that features 2010-11 Gold Standard Basketball. The box is shaped like a bar of gold and contains one high-end pack of cards. Our profile of the set, which will release this week, can be viewed here.

Inserted in packs are five instant win "Golden Tickets," similar to Willy Wonka's famed promotion from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The prizes include:

  • A chance to meet Kobe Bryant
  • Attend and take part in a Wesley Johnson shoot-around
  • Attend and work at the NBA Rookie Photo Shoot
  • An all-expenses paid trip to the NBA All-Star Game
  • The opportunity to build your own box of 2011-12 National Treasures

Also, at the eight-minute mark, previews of the 14 karat solid gold cards of Magic Johnson, Dirk Norwitzki, Blake Griffin and Kevin Durant can be seen. An additional 46 players have one-of-one solid gold cards randomly inserted into packs as redemption.

The full video can be seen here.

Fans who want to get in on the "Gold Standard" action are eligible to win a free box by "liking" Panini Authentic, the company's memorabilia line, on Facebook and "following" them on Twitter. Once Panini Authentic reaches 500 followers/likes on Facebook and/or Twitter, a winner will be chosen.
