Does anyone know who purchased the 2010 Bowman Chrome Prospects Stephen Strasburg Superfractor for $16,403?
I have been hearing a rumor that Strasburg himself purchased the card? Can anyone help confirm or deny?

@JJ Tillman: I tried to figure the same thing out but couldn’t find any info, I think the buyer wanted to remain anonymous. I can’t confirm that Strasburg himself bought the card, but it is an interesting rumor. Do you know where the rumor originated?

The rumor originated in Washington D.C., from those who are “close” to the National’s organization. Strasburg had his CPA purchase the card in hopes to remain anonymous. I don’t 100% doubt the story, but it does sound a little odd. Although I would assume that the purchase would make himself/herself know soon. So we shall see.
If you had this card would you get it rated and/or possibly signed by Strasburg?

@JJ Tillman: I would get it graded. I think it would actually hurt the value drastically to get it signed, the signature would qualify as surface damage in the eyes of the grading company. If you had two ’52 Mantle’s in the same shape and one of them was autographed, it would be worth less than the non-signed one. The best cards to get autographed are lesser valued base cards, I would definately get a regular 2010 Bowman Prospects Strasburg signed.

Good thoughts. I am looking forward to see who purchased it – although I suppose we may never know for a long time. But regardless, I am hoping Strasburg lives up to the hype……. How about a no-hitter on his debut?

@JJ Tillman: We’ve had 2 Perfect Games and a No-Hitter thrown already this year and he’s playing the Pirates, anything could happen. Could you imagine how much you could get for Superfractor if he threw a No-Hitter in his first game, I bet you it would go for $25,000-$30,000!

I think you will have to update the prices on all of these cards after the 14-K performance last night. I think even the superfractor will come up for sale now, unless Strasburg owns it.

@JJ Tillman: Thanks for the reminder, I was planning on doing one after his first start and totally forgot about it. I will have a new one up within the next couple of days. Thanks for your input JJ. -Brett
