Leaf, Press Pass, In The Game and Topps Promotions for the National
As the date for the upcoming National in Chicago get closer, more details are emerging about the many promotions offered by card companies. Current information is as follows:
Leaf is producing a ten-card set that will be handed out during the convention. Further details will be announced prior to the show. The checklist includes Muhammad Ali, Pete Rose, Vince Lombardi, Nolan Ryan, Cam Newton, Mark Ingram, Stewie Griffin (Family Guy), Tom Dwan, Hulk Hogan and Jon "Bones" Jones.
Leaf will also have a box and case redemption program for product breaks at their booth. Collectors who break a 2011 Leaf box at the Leaf booth will receive one random Metal card per box opened. The checklist for the box break cards include Muhammad Ali, Pete Rose, Vince Lombardi, Nolan Ryan and Cam Newton. Each of the five players will have a common version, Silver Prismatic, Blue Prismatic, Red Prismatic and Gold (one-of-one).
The case redemption program will award a limited edition Pop Century Blue parallel Autograph numbered to 5 or less to any collector who breaks a case of a 2011 Leaf Product or a six-box mini case of 2011 Pop Century. The promotional cards are a Blue parallel version of every card on the all-autograph Pop Century checklist.
Press Pass will include nine cards of their ten-card 3D set in gift bags given to VIP ticket purchasers. The last card will only be available at the Press Pass booth, along with 3D glasses. The checklist includes Danica Patrick, Carl Edwards, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, Mark Martin and Kevin Harvick. Dale Earnhardt Jr, the tenth card, will be handed out at the booth.
In The Game
In The Game has produced a special edition of their Decades 1980s hockey set for this year's National. In The Game will announce the dealers that will have this special edition before the convention. This version of the set will have one of eight Chicago Blackhawks Decades quad cards as one of the three memorabilia hits in each pack. These cards are exclusive to this special edition of the recent hockey release. The set will also be the only place to get a Dominik Hasek on-card autograph, which came back too late be included in the normal edition.
Lastly, collectors who break the special edition of the Decades 1980s product will receive a ticket for a free Mark Wells autograph. Wells will be at the In The Game booth from 2 PM to 4 PM on Saturday, August 6th. The special National version of Decades also qualifies for an In The Game Wrapper Redemption card.
Topps will continue their tradition of producing a 50th Anniversary version of a previous Topps product for the National. The VIP gift bag set will honor the high-numbered 1961 All-Stars. The set, titled "National Tributes," will feature a five-card set including Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Jackie Robinson, John F. Kennedy and a combo card featuring Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris.
VIP ticket holders will receive one pack containing four cards and Super VIPs will receive two packs.
Topps has also announced the final two items to be included in their VIP auction. All ten unique Topps items are listed below:
