Ichiro Suzuki Autographs Coming From Leaf

Yesterday at the National, Leaf announced they've come to terms with Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki that will bring the Japanese superstar's autograph back to cardboard.

The first Leaf Ichiro autographs will be inserted in 2011 Leaf Metal Draft Baseball, which is scheduled for a September release. Leaf's Brian Gray promised that all the Ichiro autographs in the set will be on-card and none will be redemptions. More Ichiro signatures will be found in a new set from Leaf, Valiant, which closely resembles the Crusade inserts from Donruss back in the late 1990s. 2011 Leaf Valiant is slated for an October released.

Gray was handing out Ichiro promos at the National. Two versions of the card were made: one in English and a rarer version in Japanese.

Previously, the only pack-insert Ichiro autographs were from Upper Deck. Very few have been made in recent years. Just three different autograph cards have been released since 2004.
