How Rude! Howie Kendrick Brushes Off Young Fan
Anyone that follows sports can usually tell you about their best and worst interactions with famous athletes. One fan's experience with a star can change their whole perspective on the sport. It can also be what prompts them to start collecting or leave the hobby for good. As reported by Radar Online, Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick may have forever ruined one boy's love of baseball by refusing to sign his baseball card.
The Meagher family of Orange County revealed that Kendrick once lived next door to them. On the day he was moving out, their eight-year-old son went to star's door to request an autograph on his baseball card.
Kendrick allegedly refused and said it was rude to ask. The boy then began to cry, which caused more drama. The battle even raged on Twitter with Kendrick responding to the purported cousin of the boy, saying, "I guess when people demand you sign and show up with camera in hand I'm supposed to jump. No respect guess it runs in your fam."
Without Kendrick's side, it's tough to know the whole story. Moving day probably isn't the best time to go and ask for an autograph. It's also important that signature seekers mind their manners. As for athletes, telling off cousins via Twitter isn't the best way to earn fans either.
Howie Kendrick was drafted by the Angels in the tenth round of the 2002 MLB Draft. He was selected as an American League All-Star this season.

An ill-mannered rebuke from a player would not taint my view of the sport, or cause me to reconsider the hobby of collecting.
But it would definitely set my opinion of him / her and, depending on my interaction with other players, may even change my attitude about the team.
