Do You Want to See the New Miami Marlins Logo?
With the Florida Marlins getting ready to move into a new stadium near downtown Miami, it also appears that the team's getting ready to unveil a name change and logo update.
Although the release wasn't expected for several weeks, it seems that the new logo has been leaked. It first appeared on Chris Creamer's Sports Logos and, from there, spread quickly. Uni Watch claims to have confirmed the new look.
The design is based around an "M" for Miami instead of the familiar "F" for Florida. It also features a new color scheme that is similar to those of the Miami Dolphins.
The Sun Sentinel is reporting that an official announcement from the team won't be made until November and that David Samson, the team's president, is refusing further comment.
With the new logo and identity, new jerseys will soon follow. The original teal Florida Marlins jerseys were among the most popular in baseball when the team began play in 1993 as an expansion franchise. It will be interesting to see if mass appeal of the new identity catches on and the Marlins become a part of national pop culture again.

This is by far the worst logo I’ve ever seen! Surely the Marlins organization can afford to offer up more than $20 to the nearest Kindergarten class to come up with their new logo?! If nothing else, they can always sell this to the WNBA to recoup any money they might have sunk into this monstrosity…
